Blending
and Conditioning
When we receive the leaf tobacco it is very dry and fragile. In order to make the tobacco
supple enough for handling the tobacco is moistened in rotating cylinders where the
tobacco is slowly and gently carried through water and steam. Before conditioning the
individual tobacco grades are weighed out according to Peter Stokkebye's own recipes.
Burley tobacco undergoes a special process called casing before it is mixed with the
Virginia and Oriental tobaccos. The casing is made of liquorice, cocoa, maple syrup and
chocolate; these substances are boiled in water and then added to the tobacco. TOP Cutting
and Drying
From the blending silos the tobacco blend is brought to the cutting machines where the
tobacco is cut to a carefully specified width which ensures the tobaccos will roll or tube
perfectly later. TOP Top
Flavour
The addition of top flavour (aromatics) is the last step before the tobacco is packaged, and
is sprayed onto the tobacco in rotating cylinders. Top flavour makes the taste smooth -and
is unique to each tobacco blend and to every single brand. Consequently, the recipe is
a trade secret. TOP
